The exterior of this Hyde Park Kenwood landmark was restored, while the interiors were reconfigured to create a airy and contemporary home for a family of five. The kitchen had to be both traditional and modern at the same time. The cabinets were designed by Mastro & Skylar to evoke a traditional paneled door, but the panel was very flush and the frame wider than usual. The hardware is modern in shape, but the antique pewter finish gives it a traditional air. Since windows could not be moved in this historis building, the kitchen was relocated to the back of the building, and laid out to coordinate with the window locations. This is another example of our two kitchen concept, since there is a back "scullery" that functions as an additional kitchen, clean up area, catering location and storage.
